Is Social Media Ruining Students?


In summary, social media is a formidable web medium. Appropriate use can foster deep learning and collaboration, yet the potential for harm underscores the need for carefully-crafted policies to guide the growth direction and application of social media.

Equally important as the actual content of the directives is to roll them out in a beneficent rather than dogmatic manner so that people will be receptive to them. Unfortunately, the shape-shifting nature of Internet technology means policy makers are constantly having to play catch-up, while people continue to suffer the occasional fallout from the misuse of social media due to lack of awareness and restraint.
