There have been encouraging developments in Africa in term of ICT (information and communication technologies) growth, and this spells great opportunities for its education sector. But connecting rural and remote regions remains a challenge, which hopefully will be tackled competently through the collaborative efforts of  national governments, the African Telecommunication Union (ATU) and UN agency ITU (International Telecommunication Union). Some promising signs in recent years:

– Higher levels of investment in ICT across Africa
– Regional integration and new policies for the ICT sector
– High-tech technology parks for R&D and business initiatives
